Spending Your Marketing Dollars Wisely

Traditional marketing methods, such as flyers, advertisements and emails, are terrific ways to market your business. However, many businesses miss opportunities when they don’t take advantage of trade shows, business fairs and marketing events geared toward your products and services.

Trade shows and business fairs can take place in many locations, including large convention centers, hotel conference rooms, outdoor farmers’ markets or at street fair events. All you need to take advantage of these opportunities to reach new prospects and customers are portable trade show displays, retractable banner stands, promotional tents or advertising flags.

There are firms that specialize in trade show marketing and outdoor marketing products. Customized displays can help you draw traffic to your trade show exhibit or outdoor marketing booth, and these portable products are easy to carry, light to ship and quick to set up.

Trade show exhibit displays can vary from small tabletop units to large display spaces that mimic the look of a product showroom or office space. These portable trade show displays can be accented with accessories such as literature racks, lighting, and furniture, to provide a welcoming place for attendees to speak with sales representatives from your company, and literature stands that can dispense product and service brochures.

If you are exhibiting at an outdoor event, a promotional tent provides shelter from sun, wind or rain, drawing attendees to your booth and encouraging them to remain while they learn more about your products and services. Advertising flags can draw attention to your event, by informing them about your products and services.

Effective Marketing in 2011

The New Year is coming upon on us quickly and is the perfect time to reflect on what worked and what didn’t from a marketing perspective in 2010. This will give you valuable insight on how your business should approach 2011. I personally think the upcoming year will be more prosperous and companies should look to market and advertise their business on a grander scale.  No I am not saying you should go out and spend with no ramifications but should look to find ways to efficiently help increase business over the next year.

I know a lot businesses’ have been in survival mode over the last couple of years and have regulated spending to essential needs of the business. Unless you have a brand name that everyone knows you should be marketing and if you don’t find ways to effectively market your company the business will become stagnant.  There are many ways to overcome stagnation and this can be done by choosing the most appropriate venues to market your products and services.

In my opinion one of the most successful ways to market your business products and services is through trade show conventions.  Think about trade shows offer you a direct line to interact and converse with your potential clients. What other venue on the market provides this opportunity?  Don’t get me wrong trade show marketing is not cheap but you can curtail some of the expenses and expect a better return. You will need to take the time to educate yourself and truly understand the show.

There are ways to save money when exhibiting without affecting your overall marketing objective. For starters you will need to make sure you select the appropriate booth area and size. If it’ your first time exhibiting you might want to go with a smaller display area. Not only will this will allow you to get acquainted with the show but will save you money on show services and the trade show display booth needed to fill your exhibiting space.  Other ways to save is through ordering your services in advance of the show. This will give you peace and mind because this task is taken care of but in addition to that it actually saves money because the contractors at the shows charge more for orders placed on or closer to the show date. Last but not least one of the best ways to curb costs is to select the appropriate display.  There are many display options available from custom exhibits, modular booths, pop up displays, to banner stands selecting the appropriate display will play a vital role in your marketing efforts.

So in order to have a good New Year educate yourself on your marketing objectives and goals and choose the appropriate venue for your company and remember don’t be afraid to tweak or adjust your plan as needed.

Get Your Trade Show Marketing In Order For The New Year

2011 will see resurgence in travel and trade. This means that how you prepare for a successful Trade Show (or series of shows) can make a measurable difference on how well your sales numbers fare.

Trade Shows should be approached as if they are a modern day carnival, with your Trade Show Display acting as one of the main attractions. How you brand your product, service or company will be further communicated by how effectively your trade show display is used. It doesn’t matter if the display is a full custom exhibit or a pop up display as long as it is designed in a professional manner and staffed with knowledgeable workers then you are on your way to a successful show.

Here are a few helpful tips to think about when creating your booth. The name of your company (or what you are selling) as well as your message should be consistently represented, and this is easily achieved by creatively using trade show graphics and signage.

Items to be distributed as promotional copy or tools should have the same look and feel shown at the booth. It should be seamless – from the graphics to your business cards.
Always stand just at the front edge of your trade show booth, in order to engage people in conversation. Since they will invariably be wearing a name tag, call them by name to get them to step closer, then ask: “How would you feel about exchanging cards with me?”
Most people don’t see this is a sales technique, and it isn’t. It is a data gathering technique. The selling should occur after the trade show, and your sales people will have better success if they have personally collected cards and written notes on those cards about what was discussed with the card owner.

Trade show business in the New Year can give you the edge. Increased attendance will allow you more opportunity to promote what you do- and the best sales are made to people familiar with you, your product, and your company. That familiarity begins at your Trade Show.
